Portable Diesel Generator - Commercial Use for Job Site

I have a lot of friends that use a portable diesel generator for their commercial contractor businesses. Without them valuable time and money would be lost as even if there is an available power source on a job site it can prove to be undependable or have to be turned off for extended periods of time while the electrical service is being worked on.

A commercial grade portable generator can get to be rather large and have a much more of a power output than those generators found in residential use. Since they usually weigh more they come with a duel set of carrying handles and inflatable tires to make them roll easier. A larger portable diesel generator even are set on a trailer so it can be hitched up to a truck.

Since a portable diesel generator for commercial applications can cost thousands of dollars you must make sure and do your homework before you make a purchase. This vital tool can make or break a job in a big hurry. There are enough things to think about for the contractor without having to worry about if the portable diesel generator is going to be big enough to do the job or if it is going to be a reliable source of electricity.

Power tools for commercial applications take a lot of power to operate. Unlike a residential portable generator that only needs to run a few household products. A portable diesel generator may need to power lights that take upwards of 500 watts for each bulb. It does not take long to tax the limits of a diesel generator if it has to provide electrical power on a job site.

Remember to do you due diligence of information gathering or contact some of your friends and ask some questions before you take the plunge and buy a portable diesel generator for you business.

Portable Propane Generator - Perfect for Camping

A portable propane generator is now one of my best friends when it comes to going on a camping trip. I do not care if it is only for one nite my portable propane generator is one of the first items to be packed in the truck. After years of wanting a portable generator I am now very happy to know that my family can not only enjoy some portable power but also feel safer too.

I did do my reserach before I purchases a portable propane generator and you should too. Once you are outdoors it is too late to turn back. My choice to buy this type of portable power was because because I wanted to carry the fuel in a safe container. If you choose a gas portable generator or a diesel portable generator then you have to carry fuel accordingly. I just feel safer carrying the fuel in a metal bottle when it is in my truck. But that is my opinion.

The portable propane generator that I bought can run my camping grill, lights, heat source if needed, and can even charge my truck battery or boat battery if necessary. In case there is an unexpected storm I know that I will be prepared for many unexpected things that can result from the storm.

One quick tip for your portable propane generator is that if you only use it on a seasonal basis then you should always either start it up every now and then or read the manual to make sure you are taking proper care of the motor for periods of time when the portable propane generator is not in use. This is usually not very hard to do but can save you a lot of money if you have to buy a new one.

There is some very good information and resources I found that really can help in your decision making process. You can find this information at:

Gas Portable Generator - 3 Tips Before You Buy

Most of the portable power generators sold are a gas portable generator. Since residential customers already have a lawn mower, snow blower, or tractor it is not necessary to go out and purchase more products or keep another fuel source. Just a reminder to those that need some information is the fact that a four stroke engine does not need oil to be added to the gas. A two stroke engine does.

Here are three tips to think about before you go out and buy a gas portable generator:

  • Not only do you need to know how many watts of normal operating power your new gas portable generator produces. You also need to do your due diligence and add up the total number of "surge" watts that any of the items that you plan on plugging into the gas portable generator need to have. For example if a sump pump operates at a normal wattage of 2,000 watts it may need up to 3,000 watts of "surge" or start up wattage.

  • Research the number of outlets on the gas portable generator itself. What amperage does each outlet provide? What type of outlets are they? Regular like a lamp or are they the locking type? They are each different so make sure you know this fact.

  • Features of the gas portable generator are very important. How many hours can your new gas portable generator run on a tank of gas? Does it come with wheels or is it carried around by handles? And what type of wheels are they? Hard rubber wheels are very bouncy when transporting the gas portable generator around. On the other hand inflatable tires are very forgiving and give the power generator a nice ride over rough terrain. But be careful not to go over anything that can puncture a tire or you will be carrying the gas power generator around anyway!
These three important tips should help you out with your gas portable buying decision. Buying the correct gas portable generator for your needs will keep you happy for years to come when you really need the portable power.

Portable Power Generator - Home Emergencies and Helper..

I have always wanted a portable power generator not only to have a new piece of power equipment at my fingertips but also knew the importance of being ready in a real emergency. Yes, for the most part a portable power generator is used for around the home projects when accessory power is needed. But when the power goes out who is your best friend now?

I explained to my family that the cost of a portable power generator can be saved in just one nasty storm. Whether is be flooding, ice, heat, or snow when the power is out and you cannot get around having the option to fire up the portable power generator and keep the essentials like refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner, lights, or heat supply source is vital to keeping the family a little bit less stressed out.

If nothing else if you have small children or anyone for that matter that does not like to be in total darkness you need to buy a portable power generator. Candles just don't cut it and they certainly can not keep the food frozen. Especially if you have the big fish or game meat from last season frozen and just waiting to be the honored guest at a special meal.

I myself find that having a portable power generator is great for going out back or around the property and having a power source to operate power tools. Just pick it up and take it where ever you want and you have instant power. This gets the job done quicker and usually in a more professional manor making you look good too!

My kids like to use my portable power generator when they invite friends over and camp out in the back yard for the nite. Having a power source to operate a light is very important to them to have a fun experience. And I can plug in a stove to cook them some hamburgers which they really enjoy. They talk about their camping outing for a long time!

So I hope you can now see why having a portable power generator is not only to make your neighbors jealous. It is a vital piece of equipment that you need to have when your family needs to be comforted in times of stress. Having peace of mind in times of possible trouble makes the cost of a portable power generator seem meaningless.

Lightweight Portable Generator-How to Buy Proper Size

When a huge storm hit my area this past spring I was not prepared and went out looking for a lightweight portable generator to fit my needs. If you have never had to buy a portable generator then you are in for a surprise when you go and see all the sizes and models to choose from. How is one to know which one is right for you? In this post I will try to give you some starter information so you can begin to learn which lightweight portable generator is best for you.

One thing you must know right off is the fact that even if they are classified as "lightweight" a portable generator can quickly add up to 100 or more pounds. Once they reach a certain weight they come with wheels or the heavier ones come with inflated tires for easier moving from location to location.

First add up all the watts of the items that you plan to plug into the lightweight portable generator such as a 100 watt bulb equals "100 watts." After you add all of these up you then know the proper size that you will need. Do not forget that appliances and other motorized things that you want to plug into the portable generator can also have a start up power surge of watts sometimes adding up to twice the amount of normal operating condition. So in your search for the right portable generator make sure it also is large enough to accomodate this power surge of watts.

If you want to learn more about lightweight portable generators and how to buy the right one for your needs I have found a great source for you to check out. Check out this source and start to learn how to buy a portable generator so you are fully prepared for that next power outage or maybe you are a contractor and need a portable generator for the job site.
